"Chess Game" #5606 with steel game pieces and a leather board designed by Carl Auböck.  His timeless mid-century objects were favorites of Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius, who displayed several of them on his desk.

The board is comprised of tanned black and white leather. Also available with a green and black or natural and black board.  The chess pieces in their compact and stylized Modernist design are made of cast steel, with brushed nickel and black patina finishes.  Pieces are in continued production at the family-run Carl Auböck Werkstätte (workshop) in Vienna. The board is also available in black and green, as well as black and brown. The chess pieces are available in red.

Please note: Auböck pieces are made by hand, each one will differ slightly. Imperfections such as small marks on the surface of this item are evidence of the handmade production process and should not be considered defects.
