Mia Kim (1972-) and Nikolas (1976-) Heep are based in Vienna, Austria and are focusing on the human experience and celebrating everyday life by creating beautiful spaces and things. They aim to design products of high emotional value.Coming from international backgrounds, Mia was born in Korea and Nikolas in Germany, they understand that people are diverse and demand individual solutions and examine the positive potentials of cultural globalization by mutual, fearless inspiration and recombination.
Mia studied industrial design with Paolo Piva at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna and Nikolas studied architecture at TU Berlin and graduated from the Architectural Association London. They combine their expertise in product design and architecture in an exchange of ideas, thought experiments, pipe dreams, sketches, and prototypes. In addition to the delicate “Lily” coffee and espresso cups and saucers for J. & L. Lobmeyr they have also designed furniture for Spolia and Neudörfler, trophies and for various exhibitions.
