Gastone Rinaldi

Gastone Rinaldi (1920-2006) was an Italian designer born in Padua, Italy. He graduated with a law degree from the Belzoni Institute, but he was passionate about design and sport.  He started working for Rima in Padua, a manufacturer of metal furniture founded by his father Mario Rinaldi in 1916. He played professional soccer and took part in the Mille Miglia car race.  In 1948, together with his brother Giorgio, he took over the family business.  In 1974, he founded Thema, which closed in 1989.  

Throughout his career as a designer was able to collaborate with many of the major Italian designers and architects, including Gio Ponti, Carlo Mollino, Alberto Rosselli and Michele de Lucchi.  Gastone Rinaldi received numerous design awards and some of his designs are in the collections of major museums.
