The “Opus” shape was designed by Michael Powolny, co-founder of the “Wiener Werkstätte” and the pioneer of modern Austrian ceramics, in circa for the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory Augarten. The smooth geometric forms, made up of multiple grooves and edges giving rise to interesting light effects, are simply striking.
Founded in 1718, the Augarten Porcelain is the second-oldest in Europe. Now as then, porcelain continues to be made and painted by hand. Each piece is thus unique.
